Bulgarian potato growers are facing potential unemployment due to their withdrawal from government interventions, with the government's response being described as a death sentence by Todor Dzhikov, chairman of the National Association of Potato Producers. This situation arose after the withdrawal of support for table potatoes, affecting over 2,300 farmers in mountainous regions. There is concern that the country will import potatoes from other countries, potentially benefiting four importers and undermining local production. Despite these challenges, farmers have not been involved in discussions about the future of the industry.
