The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) announced this Friday (26) the opening of the Azerbaijani market for Brazil's thermoprocessed poultry and pork products. The officialization was communicated by the Azerbaijani health authorities. For the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), the result represents a strategic advance for the country in a market in full expansion in the consumption of animal protein. According to a survey by Mapa, the per capita consumption of chicken meat in Azerbaijan is around 15 kilograms per inhabitant, with 141 thousand tons consumed internally (2021 data), with projections indicating the possibility of reaching up to 152 thousand tons in 2026. In the last year, the country's imports of chicken meat reached 41.9 thousand tons – a volume 46% higher than that recorded in 2023 –, with the majority originating from Ukraine and Russia.
