The Greek government has allocated an additional 48 million euros, which will be paid as compensation (19.6 million euros) for loss of income for livestock farmers plus 28.5 million euros for the euthanized animals infected with the deadly disease sheep and goat plague. Another 2 million will be paid to the regions for operational costs related to the fight against the disease. This was reported today by Greek media against the backdrop of ongoing protests by farmers in our southern neighbor, which have not stopped for a second week.
