The Republic of Crimea has started industrial production of exotic pawpaw (Azimin) across six hectares in the village of Pochtovoe, Bakhchisaray District. The plant, which is similar in taste and texture to a banana and papaya, is known for its health benefits and resilience to difficult soils and frosts. Established from seeds purchased in the United States, the seedlings are expected to bear fruit in just three to four years. This hardy plant, introduced over 100 years ago, is widely cultivated in North America and has found its way to Europe and Asia. Russia's cultivation of pawpaw is currently concentrated in the Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, with the recent expansion marking the first industrial-scale production in the Republic of Crimea.
