In a significant move to support low-income families across Sri Lanka, President Ranil Wickremesinghe has launched the National Rice Distribution program from Ambagasdowa Stadium, Uva Paranagama, aiming to benefit 2.74 million families. This two-month initiative will provide 10 kilograms of rice monthly to each eligible family, with the first phase identifying 191,548 families in the Badulla district for the subsidy. The program, which began with the President distributing rice bags to 25 beneficiaries, emphasizes the government's focus on equitable economic development and the importance of political unity in addressing national issues. Divisional Secretaries are tasked with overseeing the distribution process, ensuring the program's smooth execution.
