The article outlines the anticipated benefits of the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), set to be implemented from August 1, for Vietnam's agricultural exports. The agreement is expected to boost the competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural products in the EU market, which demands high quality and certification of origin. Despite potential challenges such as stringent import regulations and past issues of non-compliance, key Vietnamese exports including coffee, seafood, wood, and cashews are expected to significantly benefit from the tariff preferences and quotas provided by the EVFTA. Notably, the coffee industry is poised for growth with the immediate elimination of tariffs on green coffee and a gradual reduction in tariffs on processed coffee products. However, the industry must focus on improving quality, food safety, and quarantine measures to compete with established producers like Brazil.
