Farmers in the Mekong Delta are using different methods to cultivate Thai jackfruit. The first method involves spraying drugs to stimulate the jackfruit to flower at the same time, resulting in a larger but more expensive harvest. The second method allows the jackfruit to grow at different times, reducing pressure on the tree and allowing for a smaller, less expensive harvest. However, this method results in a mix of fruit sizes. Currently, large jackfruit warehouses in Tien Giang province have stopped buying Thai jackfruit or have purchased in small quantities due to the low market price, which ranges from 3,000 to 8,000 VND/kg depending on the type and location.
