This year, Ukraine faced a significant shortage of pea seeds, driving up demand and prices for Ukrainian peas. The potential for duty-free exports to India has created new opportunities for producers. Ukrainian farmers have planted 162.5 thousand hectares of peas for the 2024 harvest, with prices expected to be at least $325 per ton. A program by EU-Nomia LTD and the Western Container Terminal aims to boost yellow pea cultivation in western Ukraine, offering farmers a guaranteed minimum purchase price of $200 per ton, with potential for higher market prices. Additionally, a pea processing plant has been set up at the Ternopil container terminal to support this initiative.
