The 2026 national budget for the Fisheries Resources Agency of Korea (FIRA, Director Kim Jong-duk) has been confirmed at 929 billion 2 million won, an increase of 3.0% (27 billion 1 million won) from the 2025 amount of 902 billion 100 million won. Director Kim Jong-duk of the Fisheries Resources Agency of Korea stated at a press conference on the 9th that, reflecting changes in the domestic and international environment, improvements have been made to the vision, core values, management policies, and goals, thereby establishing mid- to long-term management objectives from 2026 to 2030. Four strategic directions and 12 strategic tasks were presented. By building a sustainable utilization foundation for fishery resources, the agency aims to contribute to the national economy and achieve a vision of abundant fishing grounds, happy fishermen, and a trusted FIRA.
