Producers of brassicas face pests and price drop

According to the Economic Bulletin released this Thursday (9) by Emater/RS-Ascar, the cultivation of brassicas in the administrative region of Lajeado shows good development and quality, but faces challenges related to pest control and profitability. In Barão, the cabbage and broccoli crops are in good condition, although producers have reported the presence of cabbage looper moths. According to the bulletin, the incidence of the pest has required specific management to reduce damage and preserve productivity. The prices paid to farmers are R$ 2.50 per unit of broccoli and R$ 1.50 per unit of green cabbage. In the municipality of Linha Nova, the climatic conditions at the beginning of October have favored the cultivation of cauliflower, green cabbage, purple cabbage, and broccoli.
