Projections for 2026 Rice Harvest Soar, Bulog Prepares to Absorb Millions of Tons
Throughout 2025, the rice buffer stock position recorded its highest level in several decades.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Perum Bulog is preparing to accelerate the absorption of rice and paddy in anticipation of the peak harvest from February to May 2026. This strategy is being undertaken to ensure that the absorption capacity can balance the projected increase in national food production during that period. President Director of Perum Bulog Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani said that the readiness of infrastructure, the strengthening of warehouses, and the mobilization between regions are the main focuses. He assessed that the food production conditions throughout 2025 show a rising trend that is likely to continue into early 2026. "With the increase in food production from upstream and the decrease in fertilizer, the harvest will automatically be larger," said Rizal, quoted on Friday (21/11/2025).
