The Lakes Protection and Fish Resources Development Authority in Egypt has successfully obtained approval to export marine fish products to the European Union after a three-year suspension. This approval follows an inspection that assessed the authority's control and tracking systems, aiming to meet EU requirements. The authority has been developing legislation, forms, and systems for recording landings and verifying fishing licenses, among other initiatives. It has also been collaborating with boat and facility owners to meet the observations outlined in the 2021 inspection report. Now, the authority is focusing on registering fish production sites in a coding and tracking system to further increase fish exports.
