Purchase prices for sunflower in Ukraine have decreased amid falling oil prices.

The increase in sunflower supply and the drop in sunflower oil prices have led to a decrease in speculative demand for sunflower in Ukraine and a retreat in prices. In Ukraine, producers managed to accelerate the sunflower harvest despite high humidity and periodic rainfall. As of November 6, 8.729 million tons of sunflower have been harvested from 90% of the planned area or 4.61 million hectares, with a yield of 1.89 tons/ha (last year, 9.684 million tons were harvested from 95% of the area with a yield of 2.06 tons/ha). Due to excessive rainfall, part of the crop in the west has been lost, so the total harvest in Ukraine will not exceed 10-10.5 million tons (compared to 11.5 million tons last year). Purchase prices for sunflower over the week decreased by another 200-500 UAH/ton to 27,400-28,500 UAH/ton or $573-595/ton excluding VAT (for oil content of 50%) with delivery to the factory, following the further drop in sunflower oil prices.
