In the first quarter of this year, Korea's quarantine disposition rate for imported plants was 7.3%, with 93.5% of cases being disinfected and 6.5% discarded. Quarantine cases surged by 150% from the previous year, reaching 559,000, the highest in five years. This rise is due to the government's efforts to stabilize prices by increasing fruit imports. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs highlighted the critical role of import quarantine in preventing harmful pests that could jeopardize key agricultural exports.
