The Guatemalan Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) is taking steps to improve livestock export conditions by establishing quarantine pens at the El Ceibo border, Petén department. This initiative, backed by the International Regional Organization for Agricultural Health (OIRSA), aims to meet Mexico's sanitary regulations and reduce challenges for live cattle exporters. The project's progress is noted with support from the Federation of Cattle Ranchers of Guatemala and in alignment with MAGA's strategic plan, focusing on regulatory and agricultural health aspects. Additionally, MAGA's efforts include the development of the National Livestock Traceability System, which has seen significant registration and accreditation of producers, helping to enhance both local and international market competitiveness.
