China's raisin production for the 2021/2022 marketing year is expected to reach 180,000 tonnes, a 20% increase from the previous season, due to the resumption of agricultural activities in Xinjiang province, the country's largest raisin-producing region. Despite the weak raisin export market due to the pandemic and economic slowdown, China's raisin imports for the same period are projected to rise by 5% to 23,000 tons. The US, Uzbekistan, Chile, and Australia are the main suppliers. The tariff exclusion process initiated by the Tariff Commission of the State Council of China also allows importers to request the abolition of taxes on certain agricultural products, including raisins.
