Vietnam's cashew exports in September saw a decline in volume but an increase in value compared to August, and both indicators saw year-on-year growth. The average export price of Vietnamese cashews reached a high of US$6,522/ton in September, up 3.1% from August and 19.5% from September 2023. From January to September 2024, Vietnam's cashew exports increased by 20.1% in volume and 21.7% in value compared to the same period last year, totaling 5.435 million tons and US$3.15 billion respectively. Exports to the United States, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and Canada increased, while exports to China, Germany, Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Spain decreased. Factors contributing to the price increase include a 10% drop in Vietnam's raw cashew imports, strong demand from China, and increased production costs due to climate change and geopolitical tensions.
