(Cheongyang=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Jun-ho = An analysis has emerged that the '2025 Cheongyang Pepper and Goji Berry Festival' held in Cheongyang, South Chungcheong, known as the 'sanctuary of red flavor,' has gained popularity due to its specialized food-centered brand strategy.
According to Cheongyang County on the 29th, a festival result report meeting was held with the Cheongyang Pepper and Goji Berry Festival Promotion Committee and officials in attendance, where achievements and future development plans were discussed.
This year's festival attracted a total of 101,215 visitors, and the overall satisfaction rate after visiting, combined with the intention to revisit and recommend, was 87.05 points.
The county established a new pepper and goji berry specialty food zone linked with the rural experience resort village and completely restructured representative programs such as large-scale Gopchang Jjim (braised beef short ribs) and Goji Berry Songpyeon (rice cakes) to strengthen family-based stay experiences.
The wood culture experience zone, the operation of Pinkfong Company's 'Bebefinn Happy Concert,' the practice of using reusable containers to promote environmental friendliness, and the adjustment of the Cheongyang Love Parade route were also well received.
The county officials explained that the food sector, which had been pointed out as a chronic issue, had been significantly improved.
However, issues such as the lack of connectivity with existing tourist resources, insufficient sensory stimulation content, and visitor inconvenience due to insufficient parking were raised as improvement tasks.
With about 80% of visitors being day visitors, focusing on short stays, it was pointed out that future strategies for inducing stays, such as developing linked tourism programs and expanding night programs, are necessary.
Lee Dong-soo, chairman of the festival promotion committee, said, "Local government festivals have entered an era of fierce competition," and expressed hope for active participation in the future development of the festival.
Kim Don-gon, the county head, said, "This year's festival achieved results in revitalizing the local economy and elevating the tourism brand, but improvement tasks have also become clear," and stated, "Next year, we will thoroughly address the shortcomings to leap forward as a festival representing not only South Chungcheong but the entire nation."
