The Korea Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency has permitted the export of Korean tangerines to the Philippines by air, following negotiations to loosen quarantine requirements. Previously, exports could only be made by ship with strict seal requirements and a 10% quarantine upon arrival. These restrictions led to a cessation of exports, with no shipments since 2013-2014. The new agreement allows for air exports and reduces the quarantine quantity on arrival from 10% to 2%. The Quarantine Agency aims to support rapid exports by speedily updating the guidelines for Korean tangerine fresh fruit exports to the Philippines.
