Report assures that in Europe there will be fewer cows, sheep and goats in 2024

These estimates, based on data provided by the member countries of the European Union (EU), offer a detailed vision of the expected evolution of livestock production in the region. According to forecasts, gross bovine animal production in the EU during the second half of 2024 is estimated at approximately 12.1 million head. This number represents a slight decrease of 1% compared to the same period in 2023, when 12.2 million head were produced. France leads as the largest beef producer in the EU, followed by Germany, Spain and Ireland. On the other hand, countries such as Malta, Cyprus, Luxembourg and Croatia are among the producers with the lowest volume. Projections also indicate a decline in sheep and goat production. Sheep production is expected to decline by 7%, reaching approximately 15.6 million head, while goat production will fall by 9%, reaching 2.4 million head.
