Chile has recently announced the recognition of Rio Grande do Sul as a region free from foot-and-mouth disease without the use of vaccination, as confirmed by the World Organization for Animal Health. This development, published in Chile's Official Gazette, marks a significant step in opening up the market for meat produced in the state. The recognition is conditional on the continued maintenance of Brazil's sanitary measures, prevention strategies, and control systems. In 2022, Brazil exported around 71,858 tons of beef to Chile, generating revenue of US$ 360.1 million. This decision is anticipated to boost trade between the two countries.
