An auction is underway for 20% of the fishing quota in five areas in the Barents Sea, with the winning bidder required to construct three new crab fishing boats and two land processing plants. The starting price for each area is 11.5 billion rubles (US$117.8 million). Russia has also announced a 16-year quota auction in the Far East, involving various crab quotas, with a starting price of 1.6 billion rubles. The deadline for bidding is November 22. Meanwhile, Russia's quota for all crab species in 2025 is 109,800 tons, an increase of 3.4% from the previous year.
