Due to geopolitical conditions resulting from the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Russian government is accelerating the substitution of imports, including soybeans, a key grain for cattle feed. The Timiriazev Agrarian University is focusing on producing domestically-grown seeds to meet 75% of Russia's seed needs by 2030, with 60% already achieved in wheat cultivation. The university is also pioneering the development of white lupine as an alternative to soybeans for animal feed, as it has higher protein value and productivity and is more cost-effective.
