A Russian government agency has issued a certificate for the export of 100 tons of frozen blueberries to China, as Russia looks to expand its fruit export market. The country, which is not a traditional fruit exporter, has seen an increase in its blueberry production and imports, with the annual production surpassing 3,000 tons for the first time in 2018. In 2020, Russia's blueberry production reached 3,600 tons, and imports were at 7,600 tons, a 65% increase from 2019. Most of the blueberries imported by Russia come from Peru, Morocco, and Chile, but in the summer, Russia also imports from neighboring countries like Serbia, Belarus, Ukraine, and Georgia.
