Despite record harvests of wheat, rye, and oats, Russia saw a decrease in the harvest of corn and rice in 2022, according to Rosstat. The report indicates a rise in the gross harvest of several other grains and leguminous crops, while corn, rice, and millet harvests declined. The preliminary estimate of the gross grain harvest in 2022 is 153.8 million tons, marking a 26.7% increase from the previous year. Additionally, the report highlights a decrease in the production of sunflower seeds, sugar beet, and potatoes, despite an increase in yield, due to reduced harvested areas. The total agricultural production in 2022 reached 8.8 trillion rubles.
