Since the start of 2023, the Rosselkhoznadzor for the Moscow region has inspected over 270 vehicles and controlled the quarantine phytosanitary of approximately 5,000 tons of fresh tomatoes imported from Turkmenistan. These tomatoes have been confirmed to meet quarantine requirements and have been released for free sale following the control procedure. Turkmenistan exports these tomatoes to Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Afghanistan, with exports increasing annually as more private growers in the country cultivate vegetables indoors over a total area of 670 hectares.
