From August 15, Russia will ban the import of seeds from several European nurseries and Canada due to non-compliance with phytosanitary requirements, as these seeds have been found to contain quarantine objects. The list of affected seeds includes tomato, pepper, carrot, and flower crops from Satimex Quedlinburg GmbH (Germany), corn seeds from Limagrain Europe (France), tomato seeds from Axia Vegetable Seeds (Netherlands), and soybean seeds from Semences will be Prograin Inc. (Canada). These countries have not taken necessary security measures, leading to the presence of harmful agents like the viroid of potato fusiform tubers, creeping mustard, corn leaf spot, and the pepino mosaic virus in the seeds. In response, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture is developing a strategy to shift to domestic seeds and will limit seed imports from unfriendly countries.
