Alfalfa, a crucial crop for cattle feed, soil fertilization, and medicinal uses, sees significant demand in China, with imports reaching up to 2 million tons annually. The country's consumption is projected to increase by 7-8% yearly, primarily sourcing from the United States and Spain. However, due to logistical benefits, China shows a preference for alfalfa from Russian regions near its border. Russia is actively developing alfalfa production and processing in areas like the European part, Novosibirsk Oblast, Transbaikal Territory, and Primorsky Krai, aiming to ease transportation to China and other markets such as Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, and Persian Gulf countries.
