Russian fishermen concluded 2021 with a harvest of over 5.05 million tons of aquatic biological resources, marking a 1.5% increase from the previous year and surpassing the 2018 record catch of 5 million tons. The increase was attributed to various factors such as salmon and Pacific herring fishing, increased production of cod and haddock, and the resumption of Caspian sprat fishing. The domestic fishing fleet's activities outside Russian waters also contributed to the rise in production. The access of Russian fish to the Vietnamese domestic market was also achieved in 2021, with 27 Russian enterprises being certified for fish product shipment.
