Retail chains in Russia are experiencing a shortage of open-air vegetables like cabbage and carrots, leading to a significant price increase. The price of cabbage has risen by 56% from suppliers, carrots by 47%, and beets by 62% from March 1 to March 27. Large networks in Moscow have raised the price of cabbage by 25-30% and carrots by 11-22%. The shortage is attributed to the end of the traditional local vegetable season and difficulties with imports. The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia claims that the risk of a domestic market vegetable shortage is excluded, and imports of potatoes, carrots, turnips, beets, and cabbage have increased this year.
