Researchers at Crimean Federal University have created a unique mobile stratification chamber for growing grafted grape planting material. The autonomous module, which has no equivalents in Russia, is designed for use in small nurseries and farms, aiming to replace European planting material with domestic alternatives in southern regions. Capable of accommodating 4.3 thousand seedlings, the chamber features a water supply system, ventilation, measuring instruments, and both manual and automatic control options. The pre-set hardware settings enable a process called kilching, which significantly boosts plant root growth. The project is set to begin in February 2023 and is expected to satisfy the domestic farmers' needs with up to 1 million grape grafts within three years.
