Rwanda is set to begin grape cultivation, a move aimed at boosting its wine industry and reducing wine imports, in a partnership with Germany's Rhineland Palatinate state. The collaboration, which started in 2019, focuses on technology-driven and sustainable winegrowing, with Germany providing technology, research, and expertise. The country is identifying suitable sites for grape cultivation and testing two grape varieties for adaptability. Meanwhile, a private operator in Huye district is constructing a wine producing facility that needs more grapes of good quality.
