Santa Catarina in Brazil intends to create a project to increase the competitiveness of the dairy sector

Fourth largest milk producer in Brazil, Santa Catarina intends to create mechanisms to strengthen the production chain and encourage exports. The strategy raised by the Aliança Láctea Sul Brasileira foresees improvements in logistics, reduction of production costs and qualification of producers. The plan was presented to the Secretary of State for Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development, Valdir Colatto, this Wednesday, 4. “We will give full support to the milk production chain, involving industry and producers to remove barriers that prevent the sector from growing. Together with neighboring states, Rio Grande do Sul and Paraná, we are going to try to place milk on the export agenda in the south of the country”, says Colatto. Milk production directly involves 70,000 families in Santa Catarina, with approximately 24,000 families supplying the product to more than 130 industrial units installed in the state.
