Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Malaysia, and Palestine have lifted their beef export bans on Brazil following the latter's 'mad cow disease' case, despite China's resumption of beef purchases from Brazilian slaughterhouses not being announced until a delegation of Brazilian agricultural officials visited Beijing. The bans were initially imposed in mid-March after the atypical case of the disease was confirmed in a nine-year-old cow in Pará, Brazil. However, not all countries have lifted their restrictions, with Bahrain, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Iran, Russia, and Thailand still maintaining barriers.
