Saudi Arabia is projected to experience a 5% annual growth in demand for wheat and corn by 2025, driven by positive domestic growth. The country relies heavily on imports for these grains, with wheat mainly sourced from Europe and the Black Sea, and corn from South America. However, water shortages do not foresee a rise in wheat production. Saudi Arabia is looking into other grain import markets, particularly Ukraine, as they need to diversify their sources while maintaining quality. In 2025, the General Authority for Food Security (GFSA) is expected to relax its controls, permitting private millers to import their own wheat. Saudi Arabia's ambition is to achieve self-sufficiency in poultry by 2025, having already reached self-sufficiency in egg production.
