Vietnam's seafood exports, earning 2.4 billion USD from a variety of products, have seen mixed results in the first nine months of the year. While the exports of fish (excluding tuna and pangasius), tuna, and squid, octopus experienced growth, other molluscs exports saw a significant decrease of 36%. The most notable growth was in bivalve molluscs exports, which increased by 39%. The main markets for squid and octopus include Korea, CPTPP, Thailand, EU, and China. However, due to social distancing measures to curb the epidemic, seafood exports have recently seen a decline, with a 24% drop in both August and September. The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (Vasep) anticipates continued challenges and a decrease in production and exports in October.
