The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs report a significant increase in agricultural and fishery exports in the first half of the year, with a 14.6% rise year-on-year, totaling $6.21 billion. Seafood exports experienced a 37.2% increase, reaching $1.71 billion, while agri-food exports also saw a 7.9% increase, amounting to $4.5 billion, hitting record highs for both categories. Notable increases were seen in exports of seaweed, tooth fish, and abalone to various countries. To further boost exports, the Ministry has planned events and initiatives such as the K-Seafood Global Week and International Fisheries Expo, the launch of a K-Seafood hall in major online malls, and a promotional period for Korean seafood. Additionally, the Busan International Fisheries EXPO in November aims to secure new customers in the export industry.
