South Korea's aquatic product exports have seen a significant increase of 20.5% in the first ten months of this year, reaching 2.24 billion dollars, and are on track to surpass the 2019 records. This growth is primarily driven by the active product development and market leadership of Korean seafood companies, with key exports such as laver, tuna, oysters, and flounder. The demand for Korean fish cakes has surged, particularly in response to the COVID-19-induced trends towards health and convenience. Furthermore, the country has obtained 42 types of food standards and international certifications, enhancing its export competitiveness, especially in the ASEAN market where halal food demand is high.
