Ho Chi Minh City is seeing a surge in the sale of fresh seafood, with many new seafood barns opening. However, despite the fishing season, seafood prices have only slightly decreased and remain high compared to last year, making it unaffordable for many buyers. The high cost of gasoline has also led to a decrease in the number of boats fishing, increasing the cost of transporting seafood. The highest priced seafood includes Alaska lobster, shrimp, crabs, grouper, sturgeon, carp, and trout, all costing over 1 million VND/kg. Cheaper seafood can be found at retail or roadside markets, but it is often farmed and not stored properly.
