Second-crop corn may hit a new record in Paraná

The Rural Economy Department (Deral), from the State Secretariat for Agriculture and Supply (Seab), released on Thursday (18) the first planting estimates for the second corn crop of 2025/26 in Paraná. According to the Agricultural Conjuncture Bulletin, the initial numbers point to an area slightly larger than the previous cycle, which, at first glance, signals the possibility of a new historical record for the crop in the state. Despite the prospect of expansion, Deral highlights that the scenario still presents a high degree of uncertainty, especially in the Western region of Paraná. The effects of climatic conditions on the soybean crop may have prolonged the cycle of the oilseed, generating doubts about the fulfillment of the harvesting calendar and, consequently, the ideal window for planting the second corn crop.
