Seven countries, including Argentina and the United Kingdom, have blocked new export health certificates for pork products following the emergence of African Swine Fever in wild boars in Catalonia last Friday. The information note from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food details that Canada, Colombia, Korea, Malaysia, and Mexico have joined Argentina and the United Kingdom in blocking new shipments. Specifically, certificates for live pigs for breeding or production, chilled or frozen pork, semen, blood and blood derivatives, pork rind, processed animal protein, natural intestines, dehydrated pork skin, pancreas, collagen, and pork gelatin are blocked. Currently, more than 120 export certificates from nearly 40 countries for products are still blocked, as they do not accept the regionalization of the problem, meaning they ban entry from the entire Spanish territory and not just from the affected Catalan area.
