The Irish sheep trade is experiencing a positive trend, with an increase of 10c/kg in factory price quotes. Despite a decrease in weekly sheep kill numbers, strong demand has kept prices high. Quality Assured (QA) lambs and fat ewes are fetching up to €8.50/kg and €4.30/kg respectively. Prices vary across different outlets, with additional bonuses for QA lambs. In a recent sale at Kilkenny Mart, butcher lambs were sold for as much as €208/head and cull ewes for €248/head. Factory lambs ranged from €150-179/head, while store lambs ranged from €90-145/head.
