The Sinan County Fisheries Cooperative (Chairman Kim Gil-dong) held the first sale ceremony for 2026 seaweed and a prayer for a bountiful harvest on the 18th at the Songgong branch, with around 500 seaweed producers and guests from related organizations and local government officials in attendance, including the head of the Jeonnam branch of the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives, the acting county magistrate of Sinan, the chairman of the Sinan County Council, members of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly, and members of the Sinan County Council (photo). Recently, domestic seaweed production has been driven by the K-food wave, exporting to over 120 countries including Japan, China, and Thailand, with the export value of seasoned seaweed and dried seaweed surpassing 1 trillion won, setting a new record high. In line with this, the Sinan County Fisheries Cooperative is preparing various support measures for seaweed-producing fishermen.
