Livestock farms in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, a major livestock center in Iran, are facing challenges such as high production costs, inefficiency, and drought-related fodder shortages, which are leading to unsustainability and potential closure. These issues could result in a severe shortage of dairy and red meat in the market, affecting household budgets. Farmers are struggling with the high cost of labor and input prices, exacerbated by the liberalization of dairy exports, which has led to a raw milk problem. The lack of government support and the interference of brokers in the market have further complicated the situation. The Nomadic Affairs Organization is planning to import fodder to address the shortage and support nomads and ranchers.
