The European Commission's report forecasts a 3% increase in the consumption of peaches and nectarines in the EU for the summer of 2022, reaching an average of 6.1 kg per person, which is a slight recovery from the 5% decrease seen in the five-year average. This rise is attributed to higher yields, favorable weather conditions, and the recovery of tourism. The total yield of these fruits in the EU is projected to increase by 3% to 3.4 million tonnes, despite being 9% lower than the five-year average. Although exports are expected to remain stable at around 140,000 tons, imports from third countries are set to rise by 11% to 47,000 tons due to ongoing difficulties in exporting to Eastern Europe.
