Western Cape Veterinary Services confirmed a case of Foot and Mouth Disease on a farm near Gouda, South Africa, which led to the immediate adoption of containment measures. The affected farm was placed under quarantine, along with two other farms in the Velddrif and Bredasdorp areas, from where the animals are believed to have been transported. All farms with cloven-hoofed animals within a 10-kilometer radius were also quarantined. Veterinary teams are conducting detailed inspections and surveillance at these farms.
