Soybean anomaly impacts productivity and grain quality in silos

The plant pathologist pointed out in the Sunday agro-classic that, in some areas of Brazil, such as Mato Grosso, the disease has been causing significant losses for producers for several years. “First, due to the breaking of the stalks and then by the rotting of the pods which, practically, reach the silos with a very high percentage of damage, because these grains arrive with a high rate of decomposition and, in addition, the quality of these is affected, because they lack volume and specific weight,” he explained. Although he noted that in Paraguay there are still no reports of productive areas with losses due to this disease, in Brazil it has already caused major damages, mainly in the Mato Grosso region. “We are in a very early stage of generating information, we will see in this production cycle as we advance with the studies carried out,” he stated.
