The article reports on the soy cultivation area in Rio Grande do Sul for the 2022/2023 harvest, which covered 6,513,891 hectares. The expected productivity was 1,923 kg/ha, and the harvest has now concluded. Favorable climatic conditions enabled the execution of post-harvest management practices, such as harrowing and sowing winter crops and forage. However, the drought and excessive rainfall in May have impacted the availability of seeds for self-use, leading to a decrease compared to previous harvests. There has been an increase in producers in the Dom Pedrito region investing in a mix of cover crops (oats, turnips, rye, and vetches) to enhance soil conditions and control weed, a significant challenge in the region's agricultural system.
