Spain proposes vaccinating against nodular dermatosis in Aragon, Navarre, and the Basque Country

Spain is going to submit to the European Commission (EC) an emergency vaccination plan against contagious bovine pleuropneumonia to counties in Aragon, Navarra, and the Basque Country that border France, as informed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food (MAPA) this Thursday. The measure, agreed upon in the meeting of the Committee of the Veterinary Health Alert Network of Spain (RASVE) at the request of the three autonomous communities, follows the notification of three new outbreaks in France that indicate "the virus is circulating freely north of the Pyrenees," as specified by MAPA. The outbreaks have been found in three French border departments (Pyrénées-Orientales, Aude, and Haute-Garonne) and, consequently, the French authorities have expanded their vaccination plan in those territories.
