The Belgian trade organization, SpiritsEurope, has introduced 'Objective 2030', a strategy to overcome challenges within the European spirits industry, which witnessed a 7% drop in exports last year. This initiative aims to maintain global competitiveness and sustain growth, countering challenges such as economic pressures, trade barriers, and international tensions. The plan focuses on advocating for an open EU trade policy, including efforts to shield the sector from unrelated trade disputes, enhance regulatory cooperation with non-EU markets, and diversify trade agreements to expand market access. By doing so, SpiritsEurope aims to ensure the competitive edge of European spirits on the global stage, contributing to the EU's agri-food success and supporting rural economies.
